Resources Greater Expectations The Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC and U) sponsors a number of initiatives about general education, including examining the meaning of general education. Additionally, AAC and U has been engaged in research, dialogue, and policy development about the role of liberal education and its relevance in higher education today. Greater Expectations is AAC and U's multi-year initiative to articulate the aims of a 21st century liberal education and identify comprehensive, innovative models that improve learning for all undergraduate students. General Education Proposal from 1998 Attached is the proposal that the General Education Task Force brought forward to the campus in 1998. The proposal received approval from a slim majority of departments; the support was not deemed wide spread enough for the Vice President of Academic Affairs to approve its implementation. |
