 uest artist Thomas Weaver\, piano\, will present a recital exploring the a
 spects of story and storytelling in music on Sunday\, January 27th at 3:00
  PM at the Redfern Arts Center. The concert will include dramatic and bril
 liant concerti by Alessandro Marcello and Henri Tomasi\, Bohuslav Martinu'
 s witty “Sonatina”\, “Paths”\, an ethereal work for  trumpet alone
  by Toru Takamitsu\, and Edvard Grieg's mystical and heartfelt song cycle 
 “Haugtussa”.\n\nRecently appointed to the faculties of both Keene Stat
 e College and Plymouth State University\, Boston-based freelance trumpeter
  Fred Sienkiewicz enjoys a varied career performing solo\, chamber\, and o
 rchestral music throughout New England. He has performed with the Nashua S
 ymphony\, Vermont Symphony\, Cape Cod Symphony\, North Country Chamber Pla
 yers\, Bala Brass\, Majestic Brass\, and Epic Brass. Mr. Sienkiewicz has a
 lso given recital performances at King's Chapel in Boston\, Philips Recita
 l Hall at Gordon College\, and St. John the Evangelist in Hingham\, MA\, a
 nd has appeared as a guest soloist with the Gordon College Wind Ensemble a
 nd the Parkway Concert Orchestra. \n\nThe performance will take place in t
 he Alumni Recital Hall of the RAC and tickets are $5 students/$10 general

DESCRIPTION:Keene\, NH  3/7/2013 – The Keene State College Concert Band 
 Concert will be held at the Redfern Arts Center on Thursday March 7th at 7
 :30 PM in the Main Theatre. Tickets are $5/$10. This year the “Keene is 
 Reading” program is reading Shakespeare’s the Tempest.  In keeping wit
 h the Shakespearian theme\, the Concert Band is performing works about and
  from the homeland of William Shakespeare. The Keene State College Saxopho
 ne Ensemble will be the featured guest ensemble. Assistant conductor\, Kat
 hryne Lundstedt ’14\, will conduct Gustav Holst’s First Suite in Eb..

 tment of Music will present the 12th Annual Faculty Composers Recital.  Th
 e program will feature world premieres by Christopher Swist\, Heather Gill
 igan\, and Ted Mann\, as well as works by José Lezcano\, Elaine Broad Gin
 sberg\, Timothy Rogers\, and Craig Sylvern. The compositions will showcase
  our talented faculty as both composers and performers.  As has become the
  tradition for this event\, the pieces will run the gamut of styles and in
 strumentation -- from solo piano to electronics to songs. Come hear the la
 test creations of the Keene State Department of Music.
