Additional Resources
- Advising 101 sessions: Multiple sessions presented by Academic and Career Advising (ACA) at the start of the fall semester: highlight changes to advising information, review how to use all available advising tools, summarize career resources.
- WebAdvisor training (contact the Elliot Center at 358-2500): How to Access and navigate WA (advisee information; rosters and creating distribution lists; personal class schedule; etc.) and a review of student access using MyKSC.
Notes
- "Advisee of record" means the advisor's name has been added to the student's Datatel record. This process begins with the student submitting a Declaration of Major form to the ACA.
- Advisors have access to the following information about their advisees of record: transcript, student schedule, test summaries, program evaluation, and profile.
- When a process is noted as "real time" it means all information is current.
- Students with intended majors are given the name of the chair of the associated department or discipline as the source from which they'll receive information about advising. However, there are a few departments that actually assign an advisor of record (meaning the information is actually applied to the student's record). This year there were about 100 students assigned to a faculty advisor based on their intended major.
- Student profile information includes address, phone(s), e-mail address, and advisor's name (if applicable).
- Course information is available in four forms:
KSC web site (www.keene.edu/courses): information includes listing of all courses (open and closed) and course descriptions, and can be searched by discipline, time, etc. Available to anyone.
WebAdvisor (do not need to login): information includes real-time listing of current open and closed courses, seat capacity, and availability, and can be searched by discipline, time, etc. Available to anyone.
Schedules with room data: the web addresses in the list for discipline chairs (above) will bring you to schedules on the web. These are updated nightly. These reports show the complete schedule with section capacity and active seats, seats remaining and open/closed information. Some of you may be interested in room data and this is in these reports. If you scroll down there is room chart information in the sections that have them. The first sections are specials that don't have a meeting time or place. They are the special music sections and independent studies, cooperative education, etc. The reports are for the most current fall, spring, summer 1, and summer 2 semesters.
