American Democracy Project for Civic Engagement at Keene State College

The American Democracy Project for Civic Engagement is a national, multi-campus initiative that seeks to foster informed civic engagement in the United States. The project seeks to create a greater intellectual understanding and commitment to participate in the civic life of the United States. Focused on undergraduates at public colleges and universities, the American Democracy Project has created a collaborative network of 199 public colleges and universities, representing more than 1.7 million students, that are member institutions of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). The ADP provides opportunities for participating campuses to engage in activities and projects designed to increase the number of undergraduate students committed to and engaged in meaningful civic action. The project's goals connect directly with Keene State's commitment to educate students for global citizenship and are congruent with Keene State's commitment to promote learning that leads to engaged citizenship. Participation in the ADP additionally supports Keene State's goal of becoming an exemplar in these areas, engaging in both the national and regional discussions around these crucial issues. Keene State has been a member of the ADP since 2008, and participates in multiple action groups within the ADP.
