spacer spacer Suzan Schafer Meiszner Endowed Fund for Early Sprouts

The purpose of this endowment is to provide funding for continued research through, and expansion of, the program known as Early Sprouts: Gardening and Nutrition Experiences for the Young Child. Dr. Suzan Schafer Meiszner believed that a college's mission should be expanded to reach out to students of any age. With that vision, she developed several educational programs for children. She started a gifted and talented program for middle school children at Texas Tech University, as well as summer programs at Pittsburg State University and at Daniel Webster College for various pre-college age students. The Early Sprouts program is another example of the non-traditional educational programs that Suzan loved to support. She worked to develop funding sources to create and sustain the Early Sprouts program and believed in it to the point of creating an endowment to provide long term support for the program.
