This program will engage the Colleg's Child Development Center (CDC) children and our College students in a unique learning setting involving a gargen project. The children will cultivate vegetables in raised garden beds in the CDC playground, learning and sampling a variety of the vegetables they grow. Gardening has a positive inpact on the impressionable lives of children. Research demonstrates when children cultivate school-based gardens they recognize more vegetables, enjoy eating more vegetables and choose vegetables more frequently over less healthly choices. Consuming a life-long diet rich in vegetables plays a key role in combating obesity and other chronic diseases. Alphabetical Listing of restricted funds |
