As a substance abuse counselor, she specialized in dual diagnosis, elder substance abuse, Gay\Lesbian\Bisexual culture, and treatment of women. Her formal prevention experience was at Dartmouth College as the coordinator of alcohol and other drug education. She is licensed as an alcohol and other drug counselor in the state of New Hampshire. As a doctoral student at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, her work concentrates on higher education, alcohol use, and college students, with particular focus on college women.
