Dr. Welkowitz has over 50 publications and papers in the areas of anxiety (social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder) as well as Asperger's Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorders. He has published one book on shyness and social phobia (The Hidden Face of Shyness, Avon Books, 1996) and Asperger's Syndrome: Intervening in Schools, Clinics, and Communities, Erlbaum, 2005). He has presented conference papers and given talks on these topics throughout the U.S. and in Europe.
Most recently, he has been studying the effectiveness of his new iPad Application which helps individuals with Autism to match the conversational styles of others. He is about to launch brain imaging studies using fMRI to study the neurological consequences of newly acquired language and communication skills in Autism.
