Dr. Lawrence A Welkowitz
Professor
 
      Expertise:    Asperger's Syndrome; Shyness

Experience: Co-producer of the video "Understanding Asperger's" with Linda Baker.

Dr. Welkowitz has over 50 publications and papers in the areas of anxiety (social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder) as well as Asperger’s Syndrome. He has published one book on shyness and social phobia (The Hidden Face of Shyness, Avon Books, 1996) and Asperger’s Syndrome: Intervening in Schools, Clinics, and Communities, Erlbaum, 2005). He has presented conference papers and given talks on these topics throughout the U.S. and in Europe.

Most recently, he has been working on developing internet based strategies for assisting individuals with autism and Asperger’s and maintain an online radio program (podcast) and blog called Asperger’s Conversations at http://www.welkowitz.typepad.com.
