Last week, about 60 staff and faculty members got a sneak preview of the facility on a tour led by Jay Kahn, vice president for finance and planning, and Lynne Andrews, associate director of athletics and recreational sports. The group visited the spaces that will house the BodyWorks Fitness Center (including a weight training room and a cardiovascular fitness area), the three multiuse courts, the two aerobic fitness studios, and a multipurpose room. To finish the tour, the group walked a lap of the elevated track. Membership for the Recreation Center in 2002-03 (ten months) will cost staff and faculty $375. Members who are enrolled with CIGNA or Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield may have some of their fees reimbursed by those companies. After the Owls built up a 10-4 lead, KSC and PSC played to a 3-3 stalemate during the spring, enabling the Owls to claim the 2001-02 title by a 13-7 margin. In addition to a pair of baseball wins, Keene State also recorded its first-ever victory over the Panthers in men's lacrosse this spring. Since renewing the rivalry in 1997, Keene State has captured the trophy three out of the five years it has been contested. KSC will also have to find room in its trophy case for another award. Keene State (87 points) edged runner-up Eastern Connecticut (81 points) to claim its second consecutive Little East Conference Commissioner's Cup. The Owls, who secured the inaugural Commissioner's Cup a year ago, won four titles this past season: men's soccer, men's and women's cross country, and women's swimming. The Cup is awarded to the top athletic program in the LEC based on its overall performance in the 19 sports sponsored by the conference. Presidents' Trophy
KSC wins 13-7 Champions: Reminders about Summer Security From Campus Safety: While there aren't as many students on campus during the summer months, there are still plenty of activities going on. Please remember to close windows and lock doors to offices when you're out, and to secure any valuables such as pocketbooks, jewelry, laptop computers, etc., whenever you leave your work area. With summer session classes and various conferences going on, many opportunities for thefts can present themselves when offices and workstations are left unattended. As always, if you have questions or concerns relative to campus safety or security, please contact the Campus Safety Dispatch Center at 2228. In an emergency, dial 9-1-1 from any campus phone; please stay on the line and you will be connected to an emergency dispatcher at Southwestern New Hampshire Fire Mutual Aid in Keene. The emergency dispatcher will then alert the appropriate agency, whether police, fire department, or an ambulance. Campus Safety officers will also respond. Working Late Over Summer? Call 2228 During the summer months please contact the Campus Safety Dispatch Center at 2228 whenever you plan to use your office after hours. This lets Campus Safety officers and staff know there are people in a building that might not normally be occupied late in the evening or on weekends. Campus Safety officers and staff conduct regular building checks on all shifts during the summer months.
