If you're considering suicide or have a friend you're worried about, please contact the Student Counseling Center at 358-2437 to consult with one of our professional counselors.
Suicide Prevention at Keene State College: Because every student is important to us, Keene State College is working hard to reach out to students who may be thinking about killing themselves. Counselors from the Student Counseling Center are available to talk to 24 hours a day. If you are feeling in crisis, come to the Center on the third floor of the Elliot Center and let the receptionist know. You will see a counselor within an hour. If you feel unsafe after business hours, call 358-2436 to speak with a counselor.
If it is difficult for you to come to or call the Counseling Center, talk to an RA, RD, team captain, Greek officer, orientation leader, or other student leader. These folks can listen to your concerns and help you connect with the Counseling Center or other resource. The staff of the Center for Health and Wellness is also here to support you. College, family, relationships and other stressors can bring up feelings that are overwhelming, but we know that with help, support and caring, there is hope.
Several components of the campus suicide prevention plan appear here. A consistent theme throughout these prevention elements is our commitment to protecting not just students who may be considering suicide, but also to preserving the quality of life for the community surrounding that person.
