The Counseling Center at Keene State College offers a full range of mental health services to all KSC students. Our focus is on the mind, body, and spirit of our students. Our staff uses a wellness model to address emotional and relational aspects of a student's health and growth. We are located on the third floor of the Elliot Center and open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters. Early morning, late afternoon, and evening appointments are available as well by arrangement. The Counseling Center is not open during the summer months. We are happy to make referrals to professionals in the Keene community during the summer.

To make an appointment, call 358-2437 or come up to the Counseling Center on the third floor of the Elliot Center. You are welcome to email us Counseling Center, but please keep in mind that email is not confidential (for more information about emailing, please click on Contact Us.) Clients will be seen for an initial meeting within one week. If you feel you can't wait to see a counselor, let us know. We will schedule a crisis appointment for you as soon as possible.

Fees
There is no per-session fee to use the Counseling Center. All students at Keene State pay a Health and Counseling fee. The Counseling Center is available to all matriculated and non-matriculated students, full- or part-time.

After Hours Emergency Consultation/Intervention
In the case of a mental health crisis or emergency after hours and on weekends, call our crisis line at 358-2436 to speak with a crisis counselor. If you are worried about your immediate safety or the safety of others, call campus safety at 358-2228 or 911. On-campus students can also contact the Residence Life staff on duty.

Confidentiality
The entire staff at the Counseling Center values confidentiality. We are all personally, professionally, and legally committed to your right to privacy. We promise that what you discuss with your counselor will remain confidential within the Counseling Center.

The exceptions to this are court ordered records, mandated counseling, if it is a matter of saving your life or someone else's, or where we are required by law to report current child abuse, elder abuse, or hazing.

Outside of the exceptions listed above, we will tell no one about why you came here, what you talked about with your counselor or even if you are a client - not your friends, not your parents, not your teachers, not your RA or RD or any other college offices. If you want us to speak to someone, we can do so with a signed consent form.

We do keep statistics on our services and include them in our semi-annual reports. Individuals are not identified nor are they identifiable. Our goal is to provide you with a warm, friendly and professional service.
