Ethnicity Global Perspective (SOC-490)
This course examines race and ethnic relations in the United States and in a global context. After grappling with the meaning of race and ethnicity, we critically assess theories of ethnic discrimination and research on ethnic inequality. We then study multiple perspectives on ethnic conflicts spanning the globe as they relate to the nature of racism, discrimination, and racial stereotyping. We additionally evaluate indicators of racial progress and a growing acceptance of ethnic diversity.
