Respiratory Protection (SAFE-495)
This course covers the requirements for the establishment, maintenance, and monitoring of a respirator program. Topics include terminology, OSHA standards, NIOSH certification, and medical evaluation recommendations. Program highlights include laboratories on respirator selection, qualitative fit testing, and the use of a large array of respiratory and support equipment for hands-on training and demonstrations. This course includes both quantitative and qualitative fit testing methods. Participants gain the skills necessary to perform respirator fit tests. An additional project is required for students taking this class for credit and will be due at a date set by the instructor.
