Confined Space Entry (SAFE-495)
This course is designed as a comprehensive training program to enhance knowledge of OSHA's Permit Required Confined Space Standard and its implementation in general industry (and construction). Participants benefit from topics including entry procedures, personal protective equipment, ventilation and purging requirements, calculations and techniques, and appropriate atmospheric testing equipment and related limitations. Participants will engage in hands-on training and demonstration in the functional use, application, and maintenance of gas and oxygen meters, and other test equipment and PPE. Roles and responsibilities of entrants, attendants and supervisors are covered in detail. Technical terms and interpretations specific to permit-required confined space operations are covered. Participants will learn to identify current standards governing permit-required confined space entry procedures, describe hazards associated with permit spaces, demonstrate the proper operation of testing instruments and explain their limitations, describe appropriate ventilation, personal protective equipment, and emergency procedures necessary for safe entry into permit spaces. The permit system and written program implementation are reviewed in the content of the course. Tuition plus $100 fee for materials and lunches
