Artistic Entrepreneurs (IATAD-399)
Careers and Challenges In Arts Management: In this course, students will learn the various roles played by managers in the arts. Emphasis will be placed on marketing, development, patron services, and financial management, as well as an exploration on what it takes from a management perspective to start a new arts endeavor. Combining projects tailored to individual students'interests, case studies, and discussion, this course aims to introduce students to new opportunities to make a life in the arts (both as part of an organization and as a solo artist/performer), to discuss the impact of constantly evolving technology on the management of these companies, and the challenges posed by our changing society and economy.
