Sociology Now: Cinematic Socio (ISSOC-125)

ONLINE: This course seeks to introduce the student to a variety of sociological topics using the medium of film. Film will be a means through which we can engage with sociological concepts like social class, inequality, race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, power, globalization and social change. By approaching sociology from this angle, the course highlights the importance of the development of critical analysis skills and media literacy. It compels the participant to become an active consumer of the media while engaging their sociological imagination.
