Outdoor Rec Leadership (IIPE-311)
Course fee $879 (covers all meals, lodging, activities equipment, and certification costs) plus additional cost for tuition. The course will start and finish in The Forks, Maine. This hands-on seven day course delivers 4 undergraduate credits as participants explore the trails and landscape of Western Maine. Led by long-time Northern Outdoors guide and experienced educators Sandra Howard, Ph.D. and Brent Arsenault, M.S. Education, this week long interdisciplinary course is open to matriculated and non-matriculated continuing education students who wish to explore outdoor recreational leadership qualities, styles, and group dynamics from multiple perspectives (physical education/environmental science/sociology/communication). Additional focus on experiential learning and examinations of selected program activities/guidelines; developing, leading, and evaluating activities based on varying participant requirements; you will additionally earn a Leave No Trace certification.
