History of Jewish Music (IHMU-399)

This course will familiarize students with many types of music associated with Judaism historically from biblical times up to the present era. Topics include: liturgical, cantorial, holiday, folk, and concert music (both instrumental and vocal), music of the Holocaust, Israeli music, Yiddish music, Klezmer music, contemporary synagogue music, Jewish choral music and more.
