This update was provided to the community on Tuesday, May 5. Visit the H1N1 main page for the most recent updates.

Last updated: May 5, 2009<

As of Tuesday, May 5, there are no reported or suspected cases of H1N1 influenza on campus. The College plan for Commencement, barring any significant change, is to move forward with normal operations. We counsel anyone with flu-like symptoms to stay home on Commencement day and not attend the ceremony.

The New Hampshire Department of Public Health has modified its recommendation for school responses to H1N1. Rather than advising schools to close based on the diagnosis of a case of H1N1, they will implement a statewide policy that focuses on keeping students and staff with symptoms of influenza out of school during their period of illness and recuperation. This change in policy is an enhanced version of the approach that KSC uses during our yearly influenza season.

KSC will still screen students with flu-like symptoms and work with them on a case-by-case basis to complete their final exams.

We remind you to follow these precautions

  • Cover your sneezes and coughs with a tissue or your elbow.

  • Dispose of soiled tissue in the trash after use

  • Wash your hands. Wash your hands. Wash your hands. Wash them frequently with soap and water.

  • Alcohol based hand sanitizers are a good alternative if soap and water is not available.

  • Call the Center for Health and Wellness, your personal care physican, or the Swine Flu Public Information Hotline (888 330 6764) if you develop the following symptoms

    1. Temperature of 100 degrees or greater and,

    3. Sore Throat
    4. Headache
