From the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Service's recent press release:
The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Public Health Services (DPHS) announced this afternoon that the number of confirmed cases of H1N1 (swine) influenza in New Hampshire is now 39.
"This is clear evidence that H1N1 is still very much here in our communities," said Public Health Director Dr. Jose Montero. All cases are recovering without complications. (read the full press release)
Keep these recommendations in mind at all times:
- Cover sneezes and coughs with a tissue or your elbow.
- Dispose of soiled tissue in the trash after use.
- Wash your hands. Wash your hands. Wash your hands. Wash them frequently with soap and water.
- Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are a good alternative if soap and water is not available.
- Do not share drinks.
- Anyone who falls ill should self-isolate (i.e., stay away from others). Depending on the severity of your symptoms, consider contacting your health-care provider, who will decide on the need for testing or treatment for influenza. If H1N1 is diagnosed through your primary-care doctor, the public health department will be notified and will communicate with the College if needed.
- Anyone with influenza-like illness should stay isolated at home until free of symptoms for at least 24 hours. If H1N1 influenza has been diagnosed, the isolation period is at least 7 days or until 24 hours after symptoms resolve, whichever is longer.
