Our role at the Child Development Center is to ensure that our environment is safe for your children. When lead was identified in paint chips from the windows and yellow trim last summer, CDC administration worked in partnership with the Physical Plant Department and with the Health and Safety Coordinator to develop a plan to address the lead contamination. The college gave this problem their full attention and channeled resources immediately to address this health concern. At that time we took immediate steps to ensure the safety of the children which included erecting a new fence, and training staff. Plans are now underway to begin a lead abatement process, and in fact, this process will begin this summer. Further information about the steps we have taken and are taking is available in the letters and press releases below. Additionally, our Health and Safety Coordinator would be happy to hold a meeting for concerned parents. To set up a meeting, email Ellen Edge.
