The Addictions Minor offers addiction courses in preparation for further studies in the field as well as preparation for licensure or certification in some states. The program provides students with a theoretical understanding of substance use disorders and related addictive disorders, and an introduction to counseling, treatment, or prevention. The curriculum emphasizes research, theory, and practice regarding the continuum of care in addictions. Students can specialize in the area of prevention or treatment.

20 credits minimum

HLSC 200 Alcohol and Other Drugs: The Fundamentals
HLSC 380 Addictions: Theory, Practice and Research
HLSC 382 Addiction Counseling
HLSC 386 Assessment to Treatment in Addictions
