Community Health Nursing
This course promotes integration of patient-centered care and evidence-based practice assisting the student to provide nursing care to population aggregates and function effectively within nursing and interdisciplinary teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, shared decision-making, team learning and development. This course prepares nurses for the practice of population-based care. Students examine the historic, contemporary and futuristic perspectives of the development of community and public health nursing as well as its principles and theories building on the social sciences and epidemiology. Prerequisites: NURS 301, NURS 302, NURS 303, NURS 304, NURS 305, NURS 306, NURS 307, NURS 311, NURS 312. Co-requisites: NURS 402, NURS 403, NURS 407.
