Blue Light Emergency Phones
The Keene State College emergency telephone system provides rapid, readily available and
strategically located telephones throughout the campus. These phones connect directly and immediately
to the Campus Safety dispatcher, while relaying the exact location of the caller. Almost 40 emergency
phones have been placed outside on campus and inside academic buildings. All of them are identified
by blue lights.
To operate the phones in academic buildings, simply lift the receiver from the cradle. To operate outdoor phones, turn the handle, open the box, and push the red button.
Security Escort Service
The Department of Campus Safety offers personal safety escorts on-campus before, during and
after shuttle hours. The Student Escort Program conducts on-campus walking escorts to all
community members, Monday through Thursday from 6pm-12am. Other Escorts outside of this
time period may be walking or by vehicle and are provided on a staff available basis. There
may be times when you are asked to wait at your location until an officer is available. If
you are asked to wait in a parking lot, please remain in your vehicle with the doors
locked until you see a Department vehicle or a Department of Campus Safety Officer. Flash
your lights and the officer will come to you. Call the Department of Campus Safety at
603-358-2228 or stop in to Grafton House to request an escort.
Shuttle Service
Keene State College and the City Express Bus System provide shuttle services on and off campus
to KSC students free of charge with a valid KSC ID during the academic year. Individuals parked
in the Winchester Street Lot can board the Shuttle at the shelter in that lot for transportation
to campus. The shuttle is available according to the published schedule provided at the link
below. In addition the Department of Campus Safety does supplement the shuttle with a
student driven van, which operates Monday through Thursday 7:30 p.m.-12 a.m., Saturday from
Noon-5 p.m., and on Sunday from 4 p.m.-12 a.m.
