Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE)
The KSC Health Science Nutrition Option is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education, CADE) .ACEND is the American Dietetic Associations's (ADA) accrediting agency for education programs. Their mission is to serve the public by establishing and enforcing eligibility requirements and accreditation standards that ensure the quality and continued improvement of nutrition and dietetics education programs that reflect the evolving practice of dietetics. ACEND defines educational quality as the ability to prepare graduates with the foundation knowledge, skills and/or competencies for current dietetics practice and lifelong learning. ACEND is recognized by the United States Department of Education.
ACEND accreditation requires a self study review and site visit every ten years with an interim report during the fifth year. The Health Science Nutrition Option was initially accredited by CADE in 1976. In 2003 the Health Science Nutrition Option earned accreditation and the five year interim report was accepted in 2008. The next ten year self study and site visit will occur in 2013.
