Concert Band

Thursday -

The Keene State College Concert Band and music director, Jim Chesebrough, take the stage for their  first concert of the semester entitled To Name the Unnamable and Communicate the Unknowable. They will be joined by guest conductor, Peter Lewis, and the Quabbin Regional High School Symphonic Winds, an elite high school ensemble from Barre, Massachusetts. This ensemble has performed at the Chicago Symphony Center, the Kennedy Center, and Symphony Hall in Boston with many respected conductors from across the nation.

The Keene State College band will perform Overture to Candide in celebration of the centennial of music titan Leonard Bernstein. As a composer, conductor, educator, and humanitarian, Bernstein put his stamp on the world, and 2018 will mark a year of reflection and remembrance of one of the most iconic figures in music history. Other works to be performed are Star Dance by ASCAP Award winner Michael Sweeney and Pageant by the late American composer Vincent Persichetti.
