Faculty Recital: Virginia Eskin, Craig Sylvern, Jose Lezcano & more

The Keene State College Music Department presents its mid-Winter faculty recital on Friday, January 29, at 7:30 PM, in the Alumni Recital Hall, Redfern Arts Center. The concert will feature faculty artists Virginia Eskin (piano), José Lezcano (guitar), Robin Matathias (flute), Craig Sylvern (tenor saxophone), and Nicholas Pelton.

The program opens with José Lezcano performing a set of Spanish works for solo guitar by Gaspar Sanz/arr., Lezcano, Fernando Sor, and Isaac Albéniz. John Boda’s three-movement Perambulations, for alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, and piano, will then be performed, followed by a set of solo piano works by Franz Liszt. The recital continues with duos for flute and guitar by Joaquín Rodrigo, Jacques Ibert, and the contemporary American composer Christopher Caliendo. The program concludes with a performance of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, in an original arrangement for solo piano by Virginia Eskin.

Tickets are $ 5 for all students, seniors, and KSC faculty/staff; $ 10 for the general public.
