Alumni Association Cycle I Grants
Awarded for Fall, 2007


The Keene State College Alumni Association Board of Directors, at their November 3rd meeting, approved funding totaling $8,450 for eight recipients of Alumni Association Grants for Cycle I (Fall) 2007. Recipients are:

  • Athletics: Men's Basketball
    $500
    To cover hospitality expenses for reception honoring the 2003–2004 Men's Basketball Elite 8 Team.
  • Center for Writing
    $400
    To purchase software to enhance the Center for Writing's website.
  • Department of English
    (hosting Creative Writing Day)
    $1000
    Funding for published writer's fee, travel, printing and publicity, and food for the reception.
  • Sigma Tau Delta — English Honor Society
    (for Poetry Slam in celebration of Poetry Month)
    $1000
    Fund Poetry Slam guest poets as judges, plus publicity and refreshments.
  • National Science Teachers Association
    $1850
    Assist in funding NSTA (National Science Teachers Association) Workshop.
  • KSC Geography Club
    Up to $1950 (to provide registration fees for up to 10 students)
    Assist in funding students to attend National Conference of American Geographers.
  • Department of Biology
    $500
    Funding for teaching/research program for future careers in novel energy technology (microbial fuel cells).
  • Academic and Career Advising
    $1250
    Assist in funding career conference for graduating students about "business etiquette" and offering professional development opportunities for alumni.

The KSC Dance Team received $1000 from the Cycle I Grants in the Fall of 2006 to attend the National Cheer and Dance Competition.
The Global Village Team (Habitat for Humanity, Office of Community Service, Student Center) received $1000 from the Cycle I Grants in the Fall of 2006 to send three staff and 15 students to Guatemala to build two homes in five days.
