Alumni Association Grants

Invitation to Apply

The Keene State College Alumni Grants Program supports and promotes worthwhile projects with unrestricted dollars donated by alumni to the College through the annual KSC Fund Drive. The projects supported promote the goals of the Association and the following core values of Keene State College:

  • Excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarship
  • Service to the community and civic engagement to support active learning and the common good
  • A strong sense of community on campus
  • Diversity on our campus and in our curricula
  • Civility and respect for diverse viewpoints and contributions to campus life.

Cycle I: Fall 2007
See who got Alumni grants in the fall.

Cycle II: Spring 2008
Applications available February 1, 2008.
Applications due March 7, 2008.

Guidelines

Projects should improve the College academically or culturally, enhance its reputation, and/or improve the quality of life of its students. In evaluating applications, the Alumni Association Grants Committee considers projects that:

  1. Are innovative and show promise of bringing new dimensions to the life of the college
  2. Broadly benefit the College community rather than a small number of people
  3. Assist a project or activity or to help with start-up costs
  4. Include a funding plan beyond the life of the alumni grant for multi-year projects.

Required Elements

Alumni Association Grant applications must:

  • Clarify the need, the problem, the goals, and objectives of the project in terms of the campus community at large
  • Provide a detailed budget for the project showing an accurate description of how funds will be spent
  • (Students) Include a letter of support from their organization advisor
  • (Staff and Faculty) Supply a letter of support from the appropriate department head, Dean, or Vice President

Notes

  1. The Grants Program is not intended to sustain an activity, nor will the same project or proposal likely be funded successively
  2. Alumni Grants will not provide honoraria or tuition reimbursement for faculty/staff of the College or pay for their travel
  3. Student travel and equipment purchases integral to the grant may be considered
  4. The money available and the number of applicants have generally limited awards to $3,000 or less
  5. All Alumni Grant recipients will be bound by College policy regarding intellectual property
  6. The Grants Committee reserves the right to adjust these guidelines to fund unusual, meritorious proposals that may fall outside grant guidelines.
Grant applications will be available Friday, February 1, 2008 and may be obtained from the Barry Alumni Center in Elliot Hall. Proposals will be accepted through 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008.

Grant recipients:

  1. will be notified of their award no later than Friday, April 11.
  2. are required to attend a meeting with Alumni Office staff for review of Grant/Purchasing Guidelines.
