OFFICE DESCRIPTION: Student Center Administrative Offices The suite of offices housing the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director of Student Involvement, the Coordinator of Community Service, the Coordinator of Greek Life and Student Leadership, the campus Scheduling Office and the Student Center Accounting Office are on the third floor of the Student Center. These offices are the primary offices that assist student organizations and clubs with their activities. The office serves as a student resource center and is designed to serve student organizations and to implement and coordinate programming that enriches the student experience and promotes student development.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: KSC Reads Tutors' main job is to get children excited about reading. Tutors are placed at off-campus, local Community Partners where they will work with tutees for the semester/academic year. Tutees grade levels range from Pre-K through 7th grade. TUTORS WILL: 1. Assist teachers and program leaders in the classroom 2. Work with teachers and program leaders to plan lessons and activities that help children learn skills in: reading, letter-sound relationships, writing and comprehension 3. Attend all training and orientation sessions 4. Display a willingness to learn new skills 5. Adhere to the professional standards of Community Partner sites 6. Manage resources, supplies, and facilities 7. Submit required Keene State paperwork (online or paper format) by assigned deadlines 8. Other duties as assigned 9. Not all classroom work will be tutoring. There are a wide range of activities in the classroom that KSC Reads Tutors participate in and help facilitate. Flexibility is a must

SUPERVISION: KSC Reads Tutors work under the direct supervision of the KSC Reads Student Supervisor and the AmeriCorps VISTA

QUALIFICATIONS: KSC Reads Tutor candidates must exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, be attentive to detail, and have the ability to work independently. Willingness to learn about the variety of literacy tools and resources is required.

SALARY: $7.25/hour HOURS: 5-12 per week
