Dr. Jay V. Kahn has been vice president for Finance & Planning of Keene State College since 1988. He serves as the chief financial and administrative officer with a number of functions reporting to him, including budget planning, business services, student accounts, information technology, institutional research and assessment, physical plant and auxiliary services. In 2012-2013 Dr. Kahn served as Keene State College's interim president.
Prior to joining KSC, he was the associate vice president for Administration and Planning at Governors State University, University Park, Illinois, where he worked in various capacities from 1978 to 1988, and from 1973 to 1978 with the Illinois Board of Higher Education, last as assistant director for Academic Affairs.
Dr. Kahn received a BA from Northern Illinois University and an MA and PhD from the University of Illinois. He serves as commissioner on the regional accreditation board, New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), Higher Education Commission. Locally, he serves on the Cheshire Medical Center Board of Trustees, and past chairman. At the state level, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the New Hampshire Workforce Investment Board. He previously served as chairperson of the National Association of College and University Business Officers, Comprehensive and Doctoral Institutions Council; as an at-large director to the Society for College and University Planning Board of Directors; chairman of the Monadnock Economic Development Corporation Board; and past-chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Kahn has been awarded honorary membership in the American Institute for Architects-NH Chapter and is the recipient of the KSC Alumni's Outstanding Service Award.
