Office of Wellness Promotion

At Keene State College, we talk about wellness. We're so committed to student wellness promotion that sometimes it feels like we're eating, drinking, and sleeping wellness - as we like to think many KSC students are. Most colleges include wellness programs as part of health services. At Keene State we've gone a step further, establishing the Office of Wellness Promotion in the Division of Student Affairs.

The Office of Wellness Promotion works hand-in-hand with all departments in Student Affairs to organize events and other initiatives that encourage students to see the connection between their lifestyle choices and their successes.

The Office of Wellness Promotion greatly values students' input and involvement. If you'd like to get involved, please contact Sara Torbet at storbet@keene.edu, call 358-2890 or stop by the office located on the third floor of Elliot Hall (next to the National & International Exchange Center)

Wellness Promotion Office activities:

  • Organizes Stress-free Day, when students can enjoy free massages, aromatherapy treatments, make stress balls, and other healthy perks - just by walking into the Student Center.
  • Assists Health Science students in developing poster campaigns to promote healthy choices.
  • Coordinates the events of Love Every Body Week, including a photo exhibit that presents a reality check on body image, the Project U Fashion Show, Feel comfortable in your genes, jeans give-away, and other programs.
  • Works with the residence areas and student organizations to bring students together for programs such as:
    • Stress Management Strategies
    • Avoiding the Freshman 15: Developing a Positive Relationship with Food and Exercise.
    • Virtual Bar: Alcohol and College - How Does It Affect Me?
    • Talk Dirty: Keeping it safe & sexy
  • Advises the on-campus peer health educators.
  • Facilitates the Campus Social Norm Campaign: promoting the positive choices most students make
  • Creates the monthly edition of the Stall Seat Journal
  • Collaborates with the Night Owl CafĂ© to offer Third Thursday Alternative Programming.

From the efforts of the Wellness Promotion Office to the aerobics classes sponsored by the Recreation Center, to the yoga classes organized by the Counseling Center, to the service projects coordinated by the Office of Community Services and many other initiatives, Keene State students see wellness messages all over campus, and maybe even in their dreams!
