Karen P. House, CPA, CGMA
Karen P. House, CPA, CGMA, is Associate Vice President for Finance and Planning at Keene State College. Functions that she oversees include business office, student accounts, financial aid, purchasing, and selected auxiliary services. She co-chairs the college's Master Planning Committee and serves on various college and University System of New Hampshire committees.
Ms. House has worked for Keene State since 2000 and served as Interim Vice President for Finance and Planning during the 2012-2013 year. Her initial assignment upon arriving was to be campus functional lead for the implementation of the Banner financial and human resources system. Ms. House has shared in USNH's Bradford K. Perry award on three occasions during her tenure at Keene State, most recently in 2011 with Melissa Laughner. The 2011 Perry award was for development of a multi-year financial planning model during a time of financial turbulence. Previously, Ms. House served in financial management positions of progressive responsibility during her ten years at St. Mary's College of Maryland (SMCM). SMCM, like Keene State is a Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC) member institution.
Ms. House received her BS in Commerce at the University of Virginia. While earning her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and graduate certificate in the Human Side of the Enterprise from Plymouth State University, Ms. House was inducted into the Delta Mu Delta international honor society in business administration. Among her professional development activities is completion of the College Business Management Institute offered via the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers and the Management Development Program of the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Institutes for Higher Education. She has presented at professional meetings of the Society for College and University Planning and the Eastern Association for College and University Business Officers.
Ms. House enjoys serving in leadership roles on local non-profit boards. She is currently treasurer for the Colonial Theatre Group; she is a past chairman of the Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce and was treasurer of the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Ms. House has served for a number of years as a volunteer fundraiser for the Monadnock United Way's Leadership Giving campaign.
