Keene State College Community Service Award
An Invitation to Nominate
The Keene State College Community Service Award will be presented annually at the Fall Honors Convocation. The purpose of the award is to acknowledge a Keene State College staff or faculty member's community service and that individual's role in enhancing the quality of life within the Monadnock region or his/her own community.
The award is to be given to someone who has volunteered concentrated service to a community nonprofit organization or offered focused efforts in several community organizations. It seeks to acknowledge an individual who serves as a role model to both students and colleagues and supports the campus value of service to the community.
Eligibility
Nominees must be full-time employees of Keene State College and must have been employed by the College for at least three years.
Nominations
Any member of a nonprofit organization or the Keene State community may submit a nomination. Individuals may self-nominate. Nominations must consist of a nominating letter, backup documentation, and two letters of support.
Criteria
Selection will be based upon evidence of dedication and commitment to community service as presented in the nomination letter and letters of support. Criteria for nomination include:
- extensive responsibility in a particular community organization or in a group of related organizations;
- depth and breath of effort and responsibility;
- the nominee's energy and attitude and his or her abilitly to motivate others;
- the focus of a nominees' activities, especially if contributed in several organizations; and
- the impact of a nominee's community service.
To be considered for this award, community service may not include activities undertaken as a part of an individual's work responsibilities but may include service related to an individual's area of expertise.
Membership of the Selection Committee
The selection Committee shall consist of six members who will be named by the President of the College each Spring. The composition of the committee is as follows:
- One representative from each, the Operating Staff Council, the ProfessionalStaff Council, the Keene State College Education Association, and the Keene State College Adjunct Association
- One member of community nonprofit organizations
- One KSC student
- The President of the College or designee.
Deadline
All nominating letters and support letters must be received in the President's Office by Friday, April 6, 2007.
