Timeline for External and Internal Budget-Related Information
February 2009 - Governor Lynch recommends that the University System of New Hampshire (USNH) receive 97% of its current budget in 2010 and 100% in 2011.
March 10, 2009 - Budget and Resource Council categorizes input from the campus and presents to the President, Cabinet, and other committees and offices for preliminary review and response.
March 10, 2009 - President Obama signs the Omnibus bill. Outcomes of the Federal Stimulus package are not yet known. Implementation plans need to be decided:
- TRIO programs (note: Appropriations will not be confirmed by this time-discussion may continue into summer)
- College loans
- Shovel-ready projects
March 13, 2009 - KSCEA opens negotiation discussion about faculty contract.
April 2009 - KSCAA begins discussion about adjunct faculty contract.
March 2009 - Financial aid packaging begins.
April 6, 2009 - Student fees reviewed at board of trustees' subcommittee.
April 2009 - Vice president for Finance and Planning and cost-center managers present cost-containment information to cabinet.
May 1, 2009 - President's open meeting with the campus to discuss latest budget information. Budget and Resource Council presents initial cost containment strategies. Vice president for Finance and Planning and budget managers recommend budget reduction strategies to the campus.
June 25, 2009 - Board of Trustees vote on USNH budget, including tuition.
June 30, 2009 - Legislature decides on the Governor's recommendation.
June/July2009 - Budget reduction strategies determined, with cabinet and president making decisions according to the budget levels and USNH guidelines.
June 30, 2009 - KSCAA and KSCEA faculty contracts expire.
August 24, 2009 - President, provost, and vice presidents host open campus meeting.
September 28, 2009 - Fall 2009 enrollment data verified, R+30.
October 2009 - Additional campus budget decisions determined, if necessary.
October 2009 - USNH Trustees consider further Fiscal Year 2010 budget issues.
October 28, 2009 - Possible special legislative session on Joint Underwriting Fund case
January 2010 - Fiscal Year 2011 budget begins to be formalized.
February, 2010 - Board of Trustees meets and discusses salary and benefits
