President, Keene State College
During her first five years at Keene State College, Dr. Giles-Gee worked with the board of trustees, faculty and staff to develop a residential college-wide honors program with merit scholarships, introduce a 4-credit curriculum, endow two academic chairs, hire the colleges first provost, and introduce a new integrative studies program to replace general education requirements. Prior to assuming the Keene State College presidency, Dr. Giles-Gee served as provost at Rowan University. Previously she served as the dean of professional studies at SUNY Cortland and associate vice chancellor for faculty affairs and director of articulation at the University of Maryland System. Among her leadership positions, she has served as chair of the biology department at Cheyney University and president and board member of both the Maryland Association of Higher Education and the Society for College and University Planning. President Giles-Gee holds the rank of tenured professor in education and management at Keene State College. Dr. Giles-Gee sits on numerous boards and councils and is chairperson for the New Hampshire Postsecondary Education Commission, vice chairperson for the Association of American Colleges and Universities, treasurer for the New Hampshire College and University Council, vice chairperson of the American Council on Education's Women's Commission, and a member of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation Board of Directors and the Campus Compact of New Hampshire Board of Directors. She also serves on the steering committee as treasurer and mentor for the American Association of State Colleges and University's Millennium Institute. Dr. Giles-Gee holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (bachelor's in psychobiology, master's in science education, and doctorate in measurement, evaluation, and techniques of experimental research) and Rutgers University (master's in zoology). She earned tenure as an associate professor of biology at Cheyney University and was granted professor rank at Towson State University and Rowan University. She has been recognized for leadership by Who's Who and many educational and professional organizations. |
