For Joel, encouragement and support are two elements that enable a teacher to have an impact in the classroom. They are also two elements that have had an impact on Joel Feldmann while teaching at Keene State and why he enjoys being part of the Physical Education faculty. He says, "Keene State supports excellent teaching, and I have wonderful colleagues who encourage me and create a warm atmosphere."
Seeing that atmosphere extend beyond the campus and out into the public schools reaffirms Joel's love of teaching. Observing one specific senior student teacher, Joel recalls, "I was so pleased to witness her proficiency in demonstrating and explaining skills, designing interesting practice activities, giving timely feedback. Not only had she shown tremendous growth over time, but she also exuded confidence and an ability to laugh with her students."
That confidence takes root and grows with professors like Joel at Keene State. "I want students to feel that they have a caring teacher, who supports their growth and development as they progress through their years at Keene State and beyond."
