Meeting the Demand for More Qualified Nurses

Keene State College offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with two tracks: one for students with no background in nursing (pre-licensure), and one for RNs seeking a BS in Nursing, both built upon Nurse of the Future Core Competencies.

A report from the Institute of Medicine on the future of nursing urges educators to increase the proportion of nurses with bachelor’s degrees to 80 percent of all nurses by 2020.

In response to this recommendation and assessment of the nursing workforce in New Hampshire, Keene State College developed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, based on the Nurse of the Future Core Competencies, admitting the first class in 2012.
