Miriam Sharrock ‘14
When Miriam Sharrock arrived at Keene State, she hadn’t considered majoring in music composition.
"I didn’t even think of it as an option," she remembers, "but I took a composition class and was so inspired by it, so now I’m majoring in composition and I love it. One of the really fun things is that we have a composition recital once a semester and we get to play each other’s compositions and listen to everyone else’s.
"Recently I wrote a piece for mezzo soprano and piano for a friend to perform at her senior recital. We were also able to take that piece to the National Conference on Undergraduate Research in Wisconsin and perform it there as well, which was pretty exciting."
