“You can get as much out of this department as you want,” says music education and composition major Josh Brennan. “There are tons of opportunities. I have a bunch of chances to perform every semester. One really cool one was the New England Intercollegiate Band. I sent out an audition tape and was selected to be one of three featured soloists, playing marimba. I got to do the solo and then play with the band, which was awesome – the best band I’ve ever played with.”
He had another terrific opportunity recently, when a concert band piece that he wrote was performed by the Keene State Concert Band. Now, his professor is helping him try to get the piece published. “The faculty all help everyone with opportunities like that,” he says.
