David Gonthier, Jr., M.F.A., joined the faculty at Keene State College in the fall of 1998. He received a position as a full-time lecturer in the Fall of 2002, where he teaches in the departments of Film and English. He received his B.A. in Theater Arts/Acting with honors from the University of New Hampshire, his M.S. with high honors in Film Studies from Boston University, and his M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Goddard College in Vermont. Mr. Gonthier began his teaching career in 1997 and since then has taught in a number of artistic disciplines including film studies, writing, acting, literature, public speaking and American Studies. In addition to Keene State College, he has taught at other New Hampshire colleges/universities including Plymouth State University, Chester College (formerly White Pines College) and Southern New Hampshire University. He has published film criticism in the International Film Dictionary and has presented several papers for the Annual Philosopher's Conventions in Boston and New Hampshire on filmmaker Billy Wilder and existential cinema. He has a contract with the Mellen Press in New York to publish a scholarly book on prison films, which is due out in 2006. He has also written a collection of short fiction and a novel - both of which he is attempting to publish.
