Dr. Kirsti A. Sandy

Kirsti Sandy is an Associate Professor of English at Keene State College, where she teaches creative nonfiction and memoir writing,expository writing, and rhetorical theory. With Center for Writing Director Phyllis Benay and English Department Chair Mark Long, she co-coordinates the Calderwood Institute on the Teaching of Writing, a faculty development workshop intended to help faculty in all disciplines to teach and assess writing more effectively.

Dr. Sandy's scholarship includes nonfiction in Under the Gum Tree>, The Boiler: A Journal of New Literature, BioStories Magazine</em), and Freshly Hatched, the journal of Freerange Nonfiction, a New York City storytelling collective. She has also published articles and reviews in Teaching Writing Teachers, Preparing Teachers of Writing, WPA: Writing Program Administration and the forthcoming Deprivatized Pedagogy and Children of Academics. She has also co-authored, with Phyllis Benay, The Guide to Writing: A New Way of Thinking About College Writing and Research.
