The active and engaging ceramics program at Keene State College is housed in the Whitcomb Building with a fully equipped workshop including 10 Shimpo potters wheels, gas and electric kilns, well vented and stocked chemical mixing and glazing areas, clay mixing area, spray booth, and slab roller. The ceramics program hosts a visiting artist series that exposes its students to a variety of contemporary approaches to ceramic making and material. The ceramics program also offers individualized BFA workspaces and runs a small ceramics gallery for visiting artist’s exhibitions and student work.
Keene State College offers a wide range of technical processes including, functional wheel throwing and hand building, mold making, slip casting, sculpting, and 3D modeling. The program offers high-fire, low-fire, reduction, and oxidation firings. Students from the Keene State College ceramics program have gone on to varies graduate schools, workshops, and jobs in the ceramic field.
