Our Rich Offerings
Keene State sits at the heart of the Monadnock Region: Its beautiful mountains, rushing streams, blue lakes, and picturesque villages have drawn artists and creative people for years, including the master painters of the Dublin Art Colony in the 19th century. When you study here, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the area's rich art scene and meet artists of all types.
The Thorne-Sagendorph Gallery
The focal point of this vibrant creativity is the College's Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery, which showcases art and ideas from around the world as well as traditional New England art. The gallery maintains a year-round schedule of exhibitions of national and international quality and distinction, while affirming a strong commitment to the historic artistic tradition of southwestern New Hampshire. The Thorne also shows local artists as well as Keene State College faculty and student work. The gallery in conjunction with the Art Department offers an internship program each year to a Keene State art student.
Keene State College’s Carroll House Gallery offers students, artists, and the Keene community regular samplings from the world of contemporary art. It's gallery space is dedicated to the work of KSC students and invited artists, functioning as a teaching gallery, creating opportunities for Keene State art students to display their work, create art installations, and perform other gallery-management tasks.
But wait, there's more!
Many local artists welcome students to their studios, and students can seek information and inspiration in the galleries of Boston, and in the surrounding Monadnock-area towns, including Keene, Brattleboro, Peterborough, and Northampton, Mass.
