spacer spacer Eligibility and Application Procedure

Admission to the College Honors Program is competitive. To qualify for consideration, students should have a minimum GPA of 3.25 through high school and score 1050 on the SAT (cumulative verbal and math).

Students who have already been admitted to Keene State College are invited to apply.

The Honors application includes:

  1. An essay describing who you are as a student, why you wish to be considered for the College Honors program, and how you believe you would benefit from participation. (Length: 250-400 words.)

  2. A portfolio including one example of your best writing and one other original work of your own choosing: art, creative writing, poetry, scientific/technical writing, musical composition, web design, essay, mathematics, story - anything that represents your best academic effort and will help the committee assess your qualifications. At the beginning of your portfolio, include a paragraph explaining how these two items represent you as a student. (Length: approximately 100 words.)

  3. A résumé and a completed application form.

The application documents must be saved electronically (.pdf format is preferred, .doc, .docx, or .rtf is acceptable) and submitted via e-mail to Donna Hinz at dhinz@keene.edu by March 20, 2010. Please write HONORS in the subject line along with your last name. Review of applications will begin immediately. Notification of acceptance into the College Honors Program will be sent before April 10, 2010.

The selection of candidates will be made by the Honors Program Advisory Council in conjunction with the Director of the Honors Program.

I hope that you find this opportunity exciting. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at: mwalsh@keene.edu.
