About Keene and KSC

Keene State College is situated in the town of Keene in the heart of New England in an area known as the Monadnock region. Keene is the largest town in the southwest corner of New Hampshire (less than 20 miles from Massachusetts and Vermont) and is known for its picturesque Central Square, shops, and restaurants.

Situated within sight of Mount Monadnock, the most-climbed mountain in the Americas, it is only two hours from Boston and four hours from New York and Montreal. Urban areas are easily accessible, as are many lakes and quaint New England towns. The autumn foliage is famous world-wide; the warm months offer swimming, fishing, hiking, and boating; and the winter offers ice skating and excellent snowboarding and cross-country and downhill skiing.

Keene State College is part of the University System of New Hampshire. Founded in 1909, KSC offers more than 40 areas of study. The 170-acre campus includes ivy-covered buildings and grassy commons. Residence halls at KSC are strong, vital communities where students feel included and free to make their unique contributions.

Nearly 100 societies, clubs, academic, sport, and social organizations provide a multitude of co-curricular learning experiences.
