Submit a proposal for the 2010 Academic Excellence Conference

Prior to submitting your online proposal for the Academic Excellence Conference,
please follow these steps:

1. Preparation

Develop your proposal under the direction of a faculty mentor. Please refer to the proposal guidelines. You will also need to choose the discipline(s) most closely related to your proposal and select your presentation type.

2. Contact Information

Be sure to have the following information ready:

  • the name(s) and the e-mail address(es) of your faculty mentor(s)
  • the FULL names, ksc e-mail addresses, and ID #'s of all students who have contributed to the project in any way

After you have completed these steps, don't forget to submit your proposal!

Timeline for the 2010 conference

November 2009
Students should begin working with their faculty/staff mentor(s) to develop a proposal for the Academic Excellence Conference. Guidelines and types of presentations are posted online.

Wednesday, December 9, 2009 - 5 p.m.
Deadline for submitting online proposals. Additionally, a copy of the printed proposal form must be signed by your mentor and submitted to Donna Hinz in Hale building by 5 p.m. (Hale building is locked up at 5 p.m.)

Friday, December 11, 2009
The Academic Excellence Conference Committee reviews submitted proposals.

Friday, December 18, 2009
Students and faculty/staff mentors are notified of proposal status via their KSC e-mail.

Friday, February 5, 2010 5 p.m.
Deadline for resubmitting abstracts in need of edits and revisions. Revised abstracts are to be e-mailed to Donna Hinz by the mentor, using this template.

Friday, February 12, 2010
Students who submitted revised abstracts are notified as to whether their proposal has been accepted via their ksc e-mail.

Wednesday, February 17, 2010
Presenters' Meeting at 6 p.m. in the Mabel Brown Room. Mandatory meeting for all student presenters.

Friday, March 12, 2010
Deadline for submitting digital copies of posters to Redball (Printing Services on the first floor of the Student Center) (hyperlink to template)

Friday, March 12, 2010
Deadline for students, family, faculty and staff to request luncheon tickets online.

Friday, March 26, 2010
Media Check! Science Center, 4 - 6 p.m.: All students using PowerPoint or other media need to report to the room they are assigned to present in to test compatibility of presentations with college equipment.

Saturday, March 27, 2010
Poster presenters report to Mabel Brown room between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. to set up posters.
