Critical Re-Evaluation of American Psycho

This paper will evaluate both Brett Easton Ellis’s 1991 novel American Psycho as well as Mary Harron’s 2000 film adaptation of Ellis’s prose in order to explore how the translation of a text from the page to the screen can transform the critical understanding of both pieces of work.

Notion of "Greatness" in Film

This project examines the Sight and Sound “top-ten film poll,” a decennial list of the greatest films as voted by critics and academics. It addresses the poll’s increasing favoritism toward older film at the expense of the new, analyzing the reasons for this tendency, and why it presents an increasingly problematic issue.
