The Academic Excellence Conference is a shared commitment between Academic and Student Affairs in support of student academic enhancement and success. The conference is co-sponsored by the Academic Enrichment Program, the Student Center Office of Programs and Leadership Development, the Student Assembly and the Office of the President.
Goals of the ConferenceThe Academic Excellence Conference has several goals. The College wants students, who are producing excellent work, to be given the opportunity to share that work with a broad audience. Another intent is to help students prepare for submitting proposals for presentation at professional conferences. In revising and resubmitting proposals students have the opportunity to engage in a common professional practice. One of the most critical aspects of the conference is for students to be mentored by faculty and staff. The intent is for the faculty or staff member and student to work closely together in crafting the abstract, revising it if necessary, fine tuning the presentation and developing and practicing presentation skills.
Typically over 350 people attend the conference including students and family members, faculty, staff, community members, area legislatures, and university trustees.
Recipients of undergraduate research grants are required to present at the conference.
