Keene State's dietetic internship program is an innovative wellness-focused program that provides a generalist dietetics experience while offering the intern an individualized program and a flexible schedule.
An Innovative Program
Our dietetic internship is one of the few wellness-focused programs in the country. In addition to gaining clinical and management experiences, interns focus on providing wellness education and health promotion in the community.
KSC interns work with clients in all phases of the life cycle in a variety of community organizations. You gain experience planning, developing, and implementing health promotion and disease prevention programs that support community wellness. Intern rotations include elementary school programs on nutrition and physical fitness, middle school programs on health and body image, college nutrition classes, gardening programs with kids, cooking classes; and working with senior centers, weight loss groups, health clubs, food co-ops, local farms and farmers markets, WIC, long-term care facilities, Cooperative Extension, Head Start, and many others.
A Flexible Schedule
You are required to work a minimum of 20 hours each week and can choose to complete the program on a part-time, a full-time or a combination basis. This arrangement enables interns to meet work or family obligations while living a commutable distance from Keene.
An Individualized Experience
The structure of our internship program allows every intern to have a flexible, individualized experience. Nearly half of the internship rotation hours are established as electives, allowing you to tailor your internship.
The Keene State wellness internship program will enable you to explore the many career opportunities in the health promotion industry. By combining work experience with classroom learning, the program will provide the skills and knowledge you need to excel in the nutrition profession.
